Myself and Slant went to the Katie Taylor gig in Bray. A rare lovely evening for it. They had set up big screens in a field behind the swimming pool I often take the wean to. I was wondering if the scene might be hectic but the atmosphere was great, very celebratory: their wee local girl was going to bring home the gold, and she did. Huge cheers, walls of sound from the big speakers, smells of warm trodden grass and various soaps and perfumes, a mix of drinking lads and families, many children nodding off or locked into their own micro-climates. The pic above was taken before she secured the title, as you can see from the anxious expression.
