Cornflower

We had intended to go to London today but the weather forecast wasn't very good so instead we have walked from Salisbury to Old Sarum (the original town) and back.  The additional photo is a view of the Cathedral from the top of the hill.

Old Sarum is the site of the earliest settlement of Salisbury, with evidence of human habitation as early as 3000BC. In Norman times there was a castle and a cathedral on the hill.  But in order to generate more money from the street markets the cathedral and city were moved into the valley below the hill and the main body of the cathedral was completed in only 38 years, from 1220 to 1258.

The cornflower was taken as we climbed the hill.

As it was another 6 mile walk and as Murphy looked tired after the last two we left him at home.
