Knot - the right way
The weather in this part of Warwickshire wasn’t at all bad today – unlike some parts of the country. A bit windy, but otherwise really quite nice and sunny, and the rain held off too.
We went for a walk along the canal towpath from Bearley to Wootton Wawen, (where we partook of a drink at the local hostelry – mine was an orange juice and soda) before walking back again.
While we were sitting outside the pub, six people came alongside in their day-hire narrow boat. Two of the chaps proceeded to take about 10 minutes trying to secure it with the mooring lines – and in the end gave up. I'm not a knot expert but...........................
At least it wasn’t too windy and they weren’t at sea.
We had a chat to them and they said that they hired it so see if they would like to hire one for a longer period – a weekend or a holiday., which is a very sensible way of trying it out first. I’m sure it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, which some folk find out once they’ve been through a few locks.
It's Friday night - Huffing Night!
