Bessie Braddock MP 1899 - 1970

Bessie's statue stands in Liverpool Lime Street station concourse. Bessie was Labour MP for Liverpool Exchange for over 24 years. She campaigned tirelessly to improve the conditions for her constituents and was awarded the Freedom of the City in 1970. I was wondering why she is holding an egg. Apparently she was the politician responsible for putting the lion standard mark on British eggs!
