Cracked conker

It was another scorcher today, hot and sunny, although I think this is it now, tomorrow it is forecast to be back to normal temperatures for this time of year.

This is not the shot I planned for today - I wanted something showing those beautiful blue skies and sunshine, but as it turned out I spent most of the day at my desk working on my events for the committee that I am part of at school. The school is unique in that it has a very successful parents' arts society that is run by volunteers (like me) who arrange cultural events for parents, past parents and staff. Other school have tried to do the same but have not had the same measure of success - this society has been going for 25 years now and it runs events nearly every day of the school term, ranging from discounted group bookings of theatre and opera tickets, guided walks, visits to historic buildings and many more interesting things. Tomorrow for example, I am running an event which is a private tour of the Houses of Parliament. So today I was very busy finalising my events for this term and trying to book events for next term. And because I hardly went outside today is the reason why you have a humble conker as my image today....I liked the way it had cracked open three ways and the conker was still stuck inside the casing.

Last night we enjoyed book club - we chose Exposure by Helen Dunmore as our book to read this month. I will be catching up with Bake Off tonight! Luke was meant to help me last night and pour drinks but he was glued to the TV watching Bake Off!! This morning he said to me that I would not be happy with last night's result, so I am intrigued to find out what happened.
