Deeping St. James Cross, Lincolnshire

A 15th century ancient monument converted in 1819 to a lock up to take no more than 3 people overnight before being taken to the magistrate.
The oak door reveals through the bars the stone seat and chains.
Between these bars a long spouted tea kettle was thrust - if you were lucky!
