First ....

.... Crocus of the season.  Well, at least the first I have seen.

An afternoon relaxing at Birmingham Botanic Gardens and this little gem was hiding on the slope above the rock garden.  Crocus banaticus, from Romania, enjoying the cool moist conditions.  Not a typical crocus in that respect.

Lots of other late summer / early autumn colour and a butterfly house, over a hundred pics to choose from, a good way to spend a free afternoon .... although I did spend a fair part of it relaxing in the shade :-)

Ruth slowly settling in at college.  Plenty of wrinkles still to iron out so one of us will be back and forth for a little while yet.  I am about to come off duty - the journey back to Norwich awaits.
