horns of wilmington's cow

C'est parti

The joys of spending the day in a car cannot be truly over-stated. Oh no, wait, I've got that wrong, it's feckin' dull. But given how busy the whole route was, it wasn't a dull that can be allowed to drift into sleep.

The last few times we've done the skip from Edinburgh to Dover it's been around a 9 hour day, but today saw an hour and a half added to that timeframe. The traffic just virtually never let up the whole way down, with a few moments of inactivity caused mainly by roadworks, but in one instance a broken down lorry brought everything to a total standstill, with a couple of miles of creeping at around a three miles an hour average.

Dover could hardly have come soon enough, with darkness beginning to fall. Check-in, wander along the prom to a seafood restaurant, couple of pints, vaguely refreshed.
