We all had a hand in it
Today our writing group celebrated Margie's 90th birthday. Today was not her actual birthday, nor was the day when I posted a blip for her birthday (I got the date wrong). Margie's three adult children gave her a new computer and implored her to keep writing. Today we celebrated as a group. Hilda brought a berry cobbler. Sherri brought a fruit bowl. Daryl brought drinks. Tommee brought salmon and salmon dip with toast rounds. I brought candles and a camera. We all wrote something about Margie, for Margie, evoked or inspired by Margie.
Margie, you are
what we aspire to:
that forgiveness of self,
that peeling away of the trivial,
that hunkering down
into the heart.
