Hebrew Union College Skirball Museum
Hebrew Union College is a a jewish institute for higher education. It was the first of its kind in 1875 with the first building in downtown Cincinnati. The goal was to train young men and women to be rabbi and spread judaism at a higher level of education. For the first year of your education you are placed in Israel and then can come back to any campus in the U.S. There are campuses in Cincinnati, L.A., and New York. The Skirball museum is a place that, like all museums, wants to preserve history and artifacts to tell about the past as well as showcase the hard work in a educational experience. The stained glass window was taken in from a Synagogue in Massachusetts that joined with another synagogue. Therefore the building was going to be demolished along with the beautiful works of art serving as windows. The next piece that hangs in the lobby of the museum was a honor to the president of the college. He was a child on the night of kristallnacht. On this night everything in Jerusalem that was Jewish was targeted.
