Church Of St. Mary The Virgin, Canons Ashby
Out and about in the countryside, delivering and collecting dogs for Barking Mad when I came upon Canons Ashby a small village in the county of Northamptonshire. Its most notable building is Canons Ashby House, a National Trust property. The church is a surviving fragment of Canons Ashby Priory. It was built about 1250. The Priory was founded on a site to the south of the present church between 1147 and 1151 in the reign of Henry II. Well before my time in case you were wondering!
