Madonna

Majority of people in this region of Poland are Catholics and very devout. There are usually quite a few of this kind of shrines in every village.
This Madonna is on the other side of the road from our house. The owner of the field on which it stands brought the property from an old lady who lived in a wooden house which was pulled down. The old lady sold the land on condition that the Madonna will stay put. The new owner traced the origin of the shrine going back to 1836. Her husband then renovated and re-painted the figure and put the wrought iron fencing around. The only thing I don't like about it is the plastic flowers they put in front.
