Kamloops, B. C., Canada early morning

I began my morning walk at 6:15 AM. The sun was just beginning to come up over one of our hills. At 6:35 there was still some sunrise colour in the clouds and hills. This was one of the nicest mornings of our hot spell. The hills have lost almost any green they had a couple weeks ago. When I first saw the Kamloops area I thought it looked terribly dry and dusty with not much going for it. I expect many of you will have the same reaction. A few decades living here have taught me to love my surroundings - even the brown hills which glow golden at sunrise and sunset.
