The Wool Hall, Peasenhall
Built in 1478 it retains its mediæval form with a central roof-high hall with other rooms at either end. The Wool Hall was originally called the New Inn and provided accommodation for travellers at a time when this would have been offered by monasteries. However it still provides accommodation as, under the care of the Landmark Trust, it is available for holiday lets.
We discovered this as we stopped for refreshment at the excellent Weavers Tearoom next door, during our long walk on Monday. At that time there were two peacocks wandering around the green in front but unfortunately today they were not in evidence.
