Horsing around!
Nothing new there then! I spent the latter half of the day hanging out with team Forest Gate Farm. All the girls and grand children were there, plus two husbands, their parents ( usually referred to here as Grandad and Grandma ) and me.
Followers of my journal will already be familiar with Emma and Nelson. However, round 1 was with Rachel on Roxy. They haven't done much so Rachel struggled a bit, but they managed to win a rosette for 6th place.
The location of the event is opposite Rachel's house and within hacking distance of the farm, so they had ridden there with Emma on Jack ( Roxy's younger brother, seen in the extra ) to give him a bit of experience too. I drove there with their middle sister, Louise, and Mary ( Rachel's daughter ), with the horsebox for later. After Roxy's success, we loaded up and went back to the farm for coffee.
Bonus - grandma had made a chocolate cake!
Round 2 was Emma and Nelson. This time, Emma and her dad ( aka grandad ) drove over with Nelson, I took Louise and Rachel took Mary. The husbands and two younger kids were off somewhere and grandma was left to enjoy the peace and quiet ( or as Louise put it - get dinner ready! ).
Lou's hubby and little Alice arrived soon after, so it was decided that grandma was missing out, so hubby was despatched to bring her. I called her to give her a warning - " oh, blummin' 'eck, me Yorkshire puddings are in the oven "! She came anyway!
So there was quite a collection of us for Emma's two classes and she won them both! In the second class, in the jump off she was up against 3 other horses, all owned and ridden by the same rider. One of the organisers of the event was SO pleased Emma had beaten her as she'd made a fuss before the class started and had a fence moved. I didn't even know that was allowed/acceptible! It wouldn't go down at some other grounds we've been to.
I was off taking my own photos, but the rest were making so much noise that the official photographer was compelled to photograph them!
A fun afternoon, finishing there at about 7pm, so I left them to go home for dinner as I felt there was already a house full ( and two more at home as Alex and his dad would be there ) and I hadn't seen Sav all day ( sleeping off a night shift ).
Love days like this!
