A history lesson for the bunnies (and me)
Today we set out to La Pointe du Hoc (near Utah beach and where the shell craters are still evident) but Mr T wanted to look at Sainte-Mère-Eglise on the way. When we got there it turned out to be a very pretty town. It was decked out with bicycles as the opening stage of the 2016 Le Tour de France Mont-Saint-Michel to Utah Beach had passed through.
A very welcome cup of coffee and met a WW2 Chelsea Pensioner called Frank - his escorts said he was deaf as a post, but at 91 he was still sharp as a tack, and came out with one-liners only a veteran could get away with. He had been just 18 when he landed during D-Day.
A quick visit to the tourist information revealed there was actually quite a lot here, especially The Airborne Museum, which at €8 each (the same as the museum in Arromanches-les-Bains) was much better value as there were four building here, including one housing a C-47 plane that had brought troops over and another housing a glider. Also areas for the PoWs, the history of the town in D-Day (the first to be liberated after the landings, and the start of the Liberty Road). A quite sombre experience. The bunnies wanted to be included but wanted to be clear they were not behaving disrespectfully so chose only a few to be photographed. They are now doing their homework and reading the book bought for Mr T.
