The Cottage on the Brae

Steamed through to Kirkwall, first thing this morning, to see Davey to order a new pair of hill walking boots.  To my consternation Brasher Boots no longer exists as an entity.  What would Sir Christopher think ?  Sticking to footwear (now what would do that?) I noted today that my dancing pumps are also coming adrift.  Still, it didn’t hold me back in the morning Easter Reel, 4 couple rights and lefts.  Or indeed Alex Doig’s Jig.  Even more dancing to follow tonight.

We whisked CMC Snr off to the Quoyloo Brewery for lunch and she had her customary pint of Orkney Gold; it didn’t quite enable her to throw away her walking stick.  After catching up on the Stromness news we headed for home.  At home CMC set to making a lemon / poppy seed cake, cheese and onion scones and a tea loaf.  Two lots of guests are expected tomorrow at HQ.

We have two gluts at the moment so tomorrow I will be attempting to make a kale and courgette pasta bake.  It doesn’t sound convincing.  Like my spinach it will wilt under pressure.  It won’t stand up in court.  Speaking of which what happened to Margaret Court ?

The day started very fine - a lot finer than expected.  This has given way to a light evening drizzle.  It wasn’t easy to weigh it.
