Visited Halifax Industrial Museum today as our final Heritage Open Day expedition.
I noticed this 'Vacancies' board outside. The job titles are old industrial titles and to help you:
SKIVER – SOME-ONE WHO SLICES OR SPLITS LEATHER VERY THINLY.
DOFFER – SOME-ONE WHO LOADS EMPTY SPINDLES AND REMOVE FULL ONES ON A SPINNING FRAME.
HURRIER - WOMAN OR CHILD WHO PULLED SMALL TRUCKS OF COAL DOWN IN THE COAL MINES
GREASER – SOME-ONE WHO GREASES AND OILS THE MILLS’ MACHINES
