Minas Tirith

Towering above the Belgium town of Dinant is the citadel, which looks a lot like some of the renditions of Minas Tirith from Lord of the Rings.

Dinant is famous for a very sad story during the early days of WWI. The town was invaded by the incoming Germans and a large proportion of the population was then murdered (men, women and children). The town is full of memorials to massacre, as well as Charles de Gaulle, who was injurred during the initial defence of the town. A sad reminder of what happens when Europe is divided.
