Last hour

We've admired this lobster boat all week but no boats for us today. We were out enjoying a little stroll along our promenade before heading to the airport. We were both awoken by a howling gale in the early hours so it was quite a surprise to find the river an absolute mill pond. 

We're now at the airport reading the Portuguese newspaper saying that Tuesday was the hottest day of the year at 38.6 degrees. We were glad to have been underwater on that day. Apparently, the average for the 24 hours was just short of 30.  

In the end, it's been a fantastic holiday with a fine variety of activities that's suited us down to the ground. We were just unlucky with the heatwave for the first couple of days but are going home with a desire to return at some point.
