Seahorse search
Cool air! Well, 31.5 degrees tops currently classes as such.
It was probably a warm 25 as we ate breakfast on the terrace this morning but we could feel it wasn't going to have any of the oppressiveness that the first couple of days possessed.
We headed to Fuzeta today in the hope we could find a patch of seagrass to hunt for one out of one of the largest populations of seahorses in the world.
Erm... No!
But we've still had a great day.
We had a little search around but it soon became clear that you needed the boat, the guide and 40 euros each for the pleasure of it. We'd already concluded that wasn't going to happen. When we dive, we might hope to see something in particular but if you don't, at least you know you'll still see plenty. Here, if you saw no seahorses, you'd simply have a face full of seagrass. Our day will come!
So, instead, we took a long walk up the beach where the odd person wandered, and thoroughly enjoyed the solitude, white sand and clear turquoise sea.
Cockling is a big industry here and we came across this guy and another fellow dredging for them on the way back.
It was a pleasure to sit outside today and I even enjoyed the sun on my skin.
Tonight, we were two of the three surprise guests at Gary's mum's 80th birthday. We've had a lovely evening with nine of us around a table outside in Tavira enjoying time and good food together. We'd arrived a little early to ensure we could park so had some time to ourselves to visit the river and beautiful bridge as the sun was setting... A wonderful taster of what Tavira has to offer and somewhere we'd definitely return to at some point.
