The Ubiquitous Chip
This is one of the 'Lanes' off Byres Road in the West End of Glasgow. We have been staying in this vibrant area and today explored some of the 'lanes' which have eating places, pubs and vintage shops.
We sat outside here, which was originally stables, and had a wonderful Ploughman's lunch and Crab Panini and of course a ubiquitous bowl of chips.
We spent the morning on more of the 'Mackintosh Trail' visiting House for an Art Lover a little out of town at Bellahoustan Park near the Ibrox Stadium. It was worth the trip. It was only built in 1990 but to Mackintosh's designs submitted for a competition in 1901. He was eliminated for not providing enough drawings and submitting late but someone took on the project 90 years later and, following his designs, built the house on the grounds of the former Ibrox Hill house which had been demolished.
It was a lovely day and seemed rather strange to see people skiing on the dry ski slopes also in the park.
Really enjoyed Glasgow!
