Wide and wonderful

You know all this it's inspiring thing that everyone is saying about the Olympics, well how is it that I've run less and eaten more since the Games started?

Feeling a bit Olympicked out, I knew I needed to get out and run the moors. It does the soul good.

So a bit light on medals today for team GB it is perhaps right to take a pause from the patriotic thing. I guess part of it is that i am engaged as much with the stories as the performances and we are familiar with the stories of our own country. So Jess and Mo's golds were forged in disappointment and failure as well as success. Even the preening and strutting of Bolt has a back story of "sick bucket session after session". Aussie Alison Pearson last night was a wonderful champion in the 100m Hurdles, reading about her "single" mum doing a second job to pay for massages, her dissapointment in Delhi only increased my respect for her.

Enough of that, get your act together team GB, after weary Wednesday, can we have thrilling Thursday.
