I travelled up to Scotland last night and have a really busy weekend planned. I started the day off with a fast 65km ride. For once it was sunny, there was next to no wind and I had the flat coast road rather than the hills of the Peak District. It was great to have the legs spinning fast. On one wee section, I tried to take up a challenge set by Chris Boardman....to try to maintain the speed Bradley did in the Olympic TT for one minute. I managed 45km/h for a few seconds but obviously Bradley's TT bike was worth more speed than I thought.
Then it was off to Glasgow for work. Fortunately, I had just enough time to stop off at Wellington Coffee for a fine Red Brick espresso and a perfect scone. In Glasgow I headed off to Ibrox on the underground. On exiting the station I was confronted by a Jakey Stainer saying "ya wanna tak mah picture big man" in a rather aggressive manner. I politely declined. Hmmm, that guy certainly fitted the weedgie stereotype. The Blip is of another weedgie institution!
I then headed into Bellahouston Park to find the cycle circuit where I was doing some work with a couple of coaches. That was fun and fortunately the rain held off. Very impressed with the park too...the walled garden was nice but a bit too pristine for my liking. Then, it was back to Edinburgh and an early night.
