The Dry

We returned to the Tin Coast today and to the mining museum at Geevor. It was fascinating to look around this preserved mine which closed in 1991 when the pumps were finally turned off.

We learned so much about the whole process. We also went on a guided tour of an 18th century mine which was fascinating. As well as having worked in Cornish tin mines our guide, John, had also mined in South Africa and Canada.

This is a photograph of The Dry where the miners would begin and end their shift. It had a sad feel to it though one could imagine the cameraderie that must have existed here among these hard working men.
