Volunteers

Today I was again roped into handing out "how to vote" cards at the council elections.
And again I have to comment on what an interesting observation of human nature this exercise is. 

There are the utterly charming people who politely take a leaflet from everyone and many even return them afterwards for recycling.

Others obviously aren't into the concept of a secret ballot and refuse those they don't want. Unfortunately a few take the opportunity to abuse the hapless volunteer with the reasons why.

Probably the most annoying are the ones who barge through, head down, avoiding all eye contact as if we were a bunch of piranhas. 
Hey, what's wrong with politely declining them all with a smile as some manage to do?

On a positive note all the volunteers from opposing parties were very friendly. 
I had to admire some who were there the entire day in bitterly cold weather, including the charming young man I have blipped.
Then there was a quite elderly lady with a walking stick who still managed to do her bit, although she did make the error of handing out leaflets for the wrong party for a while before she realized!
