Spider in the sun.

We were invited to take an old friend to an old lady's chalet near Gstaad today. It was pure Swiss history. She lives in the chalet 6 months a year when it is warm enough and has decorated it with memorabilia from charity shops in Gstaad. There are basically 2 layers of society there: the super-rich who live in posh chalets a few weeks a year, and then the farmers who keep cows and the Swissy-ness of the place intact. Maria loves spiders and proudly showed us their webs on the balcony. As we were having coffee, this beautiful specimen came to inspect us. Is it an orb-weaver spiders (Araneidae)? I haven't a clue about spiders so tried to look it up on "the Web"!
