The Grand Col du Ferret

I'm fairly certain I've blipped a variant of this view every time I've been over the Col and I hope I always do, the day this doesn't take my breath away is the day I'll need to find a new job.
As a guide this is a near perfect day (if only there were some ladders or cables lol) - its tough, the clients will be pushed, there are some sections they'll need encouragement, some places a helping hand will be welcome, and some where I'll simply need to keep them going. As they climb higher they'll get tantalising glimpses of snow capped peaks, but the angle is just perfect to keep this view out of sight until the very last moment - making for a truly rewarding surprise - their joy tangible and infectious. The masses will stay around the Col - but if you've a good guide ;) then you'll wander a ways towards the Petite Col with the views to Mont Dolent, the Triolet and along the Grand Jorasse opening up before you - and leaving those masses just a couple of hundred metres away you'll find a peaceful place to pause a while and feed the soul, the rat or both.

All mountain landscapes hold stories: the ones we read, the ones we dream, and the ones we create.
