Animals

Today started with a visit to the early morning market which is all laid out on a mountain. It's a crazy place, packed full of people and animals. You could buy geese, sheep, pigeons, chickens, rabbits, turkeys etc. We bought 2 rabbits (for a fiver) for L's bday.

We visited some very good friends. They'd just bought a sheep to be killed as a sacrifice for Eid. It was ever so friendly and I felt sad for it. My friend K, who's like my little sister, wanted us to go to the park together. Turns out it was so that she could meet up with a 'friend' there without her parents knowing. I hate being used as a cover like that. At the park I got to sit with 2 ladies, one who'd fled Fallujah and the other who wanted to talk to me about her marriage which was falling apart. I'm thankful for times like this of strangers wanting to talk.
