Nutmeg

Just arrived today, first edition of a new Scottish football magazine, the evocatively named 'Nutmeg'. So many tantalising articles but I have been good and not spent the day reading it when I should have been working. Delayed gratification and all that.

For those not familiar with the term a 'nutmeg' in football is when you put the ball through an opposing player's legs. I believe for it to count it needs to lead to an advantage to you or your team - either you run round to collect the ball again, or it goes to a team-mate or scores a goal - rather than being intercepted by the other team.

And I've just checked and Wikipedia agrees about the retaining possession thing. There is also a whole list of other language variations on there, some more evocative than others. I'll leave you to look yourself if you are interested!
