The new Port Appin Ferry
The next project started today. I've been putting it off for a while but now I think I'm ready to make a start. The new Port Appin Harbour is looking tidy and I think it needs a modern ferry to go alongside. MV Eigg was built around 1970 and that fits in with the era that Port Appin spans, albeit at the modern extremes.
I was quite chuffed with the way my little Lobster/crab boat turned out so I was fired up to make a start, then last week in Barnard Castle I found a second hand bookshop with a shelf full of ship modelling books. Obviously some poor chap had died and his immaculate collection was up for sale. They were good value and I bought eight volumes. They are excellent, detailed and full of nautical modelling tips, things I'd never thought of so I'm learning new skill as well as having fun.
The best laid plans....
In other news, the doc says I've had my first flare up of arthritis in a knee that was operated on 25 years ago after a climbing accident. Nothing to worry about, just lots of pain. Next step lots of x-rays and stuff. Oh the pleasures of getting old.
