At Chocolate Necessities
We had a very busy and very social day today. It was nice if a bit exhausting. It began when Arvin and I picked up Helena and went to the first Bellingham Music Club performance of the season. Patrick and Rachel Roulette were performing. He is a crack percussionist and she is a fine pianist. They played a bunch of turn of the 20th century xylophone pieces. I didn't realize that the xylophone was a very popular instrument at the time. This partly was due to how well the instrument sounded on the new Edison recordings. They played some Scott Joplin and other composers of the day. Tomorrow night they will be doing a longer version of the concert at the Firehouse Theater. We won't be going but I recommend the concert if you like to hear really fine xylophone playing with great piano accompaniment.
After the concert we went out for lunch at Mikanos, a Greek restaurant near the airport. We had a lovely visit with our music buddies. We headed home for some quiet time before my brother Steve arrived to play a couple of games of Carcassonne. Then our friends from Canada arrived. The whole family is here. They are staying the night.
We went out to dinner at Jalapeno's and then to Chocolate Necessities for gelato. What a delightful time. It was quite dark where we sat eating our gelato so the picture is pretty grainy. But it is my blip anyhow as a memory of the great time we had together. In the photo are DJ, Arvin, Steve, Kaelyn, Aiden, Annika and Riki. I am behind the camera.
