Fourteen
I took one of the bikes out for an early morning spin in the hope I would find some quirky subjects for my camera. As today marks the 14th anniversary of my Mum’s passing I found a church and a couple of quiet spots along the coast not far from where we visited yesterday. The coolness made it an obvious time (before 9am) for power walking, jogging along the beaches, cycling along the promenade and even exercising with a sabre (!). Choosing the less energetic route I did manage to find some good subjects including lots of graffiti. Too many to post here of course but will upload them all on to Flickr when I get the chance.
Chilled out by the pool again. Finished the book I started last week and made a start on Harry Potter’s latest instalment.
After the buzz from this morning I cycled up the other way in the afternoon towards the end of the urbanization area. Sounds like a movie from hell and it wasn’t far off as I came across a canal network that the local farmers use to water their crops. In saying this, the scenery looked remarkably similar to those seen in the classic film Chinatown. Dry dusty roads, water channels and rows and rows of citrus trees. And hot, hot weather, blues skies etc. Took a few shots, but the heat eventually became unbearable as I ran out of water, so headed back. Quick dip in the pool to cool down. As you do.
Lay down for a bit then finished the book on John Peel. Enjoyable read, but found it quite repetitive as every band/artist mentioned in it were either “made famous by John Peel” or “helped on to greater things” etc. Not dismissing that fact that he knew what he was talking about of course. Quite a commendable guy for sure. Like him, being a vinyl lover myself, I was expecting more on the format wars particularly with the vinyl comeback in recent years.
Anyway where did I put my MP3 Walkman.....
