End of the day
Today has really not been a good day. This blip and the time after it may have been the best part of it.
So... yesterday, after the test drive during which Gs (now my) car didn't make any of the noises it had been making all day; we were told that the bearings on the back axle (?) were not good and needed replaced right away as it was extremely dangerous to drive it. Amazingly, they allowed us to drive it home, as it was the end of the day, and it would take some time to check for the parts which were needed and how much the repair would cost, so in the words of the service advisor, "it's best if you take it now and bring it back, just in case the parts are not in stock."
G got us home, and we definitely heard some strange noises... Then this morning, whilst getting to work, the ABS light came on, and the brakes seized! Fortunately we were on a roundabout and nothing was moving too fast. G managed to get the car into a parking bay, and we went into my office building to see about hiring a car so she could get to work.
This option soon became unviable; so I went up to have a chat with my boss and asked if I could work from home so I could sort out the car. G had to make alternate arrangements for her student too. Long story short, we took the brave decision to try to get the car back home for a tow truck to collect it, but in the end, just drove it back to the garage... a scary journey, carefully negotiated by G. Once again, as soon as we turned to the final stretch leading up to the garage, all the noises stopped (!!!) and the car drove as smooth as anything!
No question this time about not leaving it. Incredibly, the Peugeot garage here have a car hire facility on the premises, so we got a 308 for the next three days, and I got home to spend the rest of the work day at my "home office" (read dining table!). And the work day had its own challenges...
Anyway, around 6; G & I decided to go out and enjoy this new car. It is lovely to drive and thoroughly modern! We headed to Kite Beach... I wanted to get some shots at twilight; and here it is... don't miss the line of buoys in the sea. And we tried out a restaurant called Salt... interesting new concept, but a very limited menu. Then heading home, these two other restaurants caught our eye. We decided that if there was a free parking bay right in front of the shop, we would stop and check out what they had. So here we are... (see extra) G is trying out an authentic Lebanese Kunafa. It was very different to any other Kunafa she's ever had in her life (the one's made in Palestine is what she is most familiar with).
And that was that!
