Terrible Fire..
Wow. Glenn's sister and family were here overnight. They came up this morning to have coffee with us and have a chat before we headed into work. They were going to go explore the area then meet up later for a bite to eat. The first thing I hear is that something had gotten into the 2 garbage bags I had left out. ugh. I forgot to take them into work. So, that was a fun start to my day, cleaning up garbage. I remembered it was garbage day here so I took them up and put them by our little garbage container. Now they are gone. Creepy to wonder what tore them apart like that. Visit for a bit then Glenn and I go to the car and he says "there's a fire". I look and smoke is billowing into the sky just down the road. I had to go check it out. It was this church completely engulfed in flames :( I find out from the folks standing around that the steeple was fairly new, in the past few years. They had been saving for it. And, a local boy scout troop meets there and one of the eagle scouts and recently redone one of the bathrooms. They had just taken all their summer gear there to store. Now its gone. Here is a cool thing. Glenn and I went by there on the way home and the steeple was still standing strong. All white and shining. Where before there was smoke billowing all around!
Had a nice lunch/dinner with glenn's family before they headed out to make their way back to Portland. They were going to stop and ride 4-wheelers on the dunes then make their way up the coast hwy 101. All that fuss and I enjoyed the visit. I am so silly. I think that having my house all clean and ready made me feel better by the time they got here! I vow to keep it presentable or better so I don't have to freak if someone else wants to come for a visit! :)
All in all a very wonderful day. Sad about the loss of the church. Fire is just so devastating and final but we rise out of the ashes...
Happy Tuesday
