Lights, Xmas and the Credit Crunch

Wirksworth is getting the Lights out now. The lights here are now white this year instead of multi coloured, I quite like them in one colour they look less bedraggled than the old multi ones.

Overall I have noticed a decline though the in the number of houses with festooned Xmas light shows, is this the sign of the credit crunch? One street in Derby is well known for its light pollution but about only two houses are now decked out there this year.

Conversely there are some house that have really gone overboard, seemingly losing their display virginity and going for it big time, is this a show of wealth in the face of the crunch or two fingers to the economic situation and go down fighting attitude? ;-)
