The Buttercup Mysteries
Or Ranunculus lappaceus, commonly known as the common buttercup, Australian buttercup or Yarrakalgamba.
I had these mystery plants come up a few weeks ago, and had no idea what they were until they flowered. Then it was clear that they are buttercups, and I don't know where they came from, but they look so spring like and lovely out there.
The other mystery is the ant. You can't see what he/she's doing here, but it's got the head of another ant firmly clasped in its jaws. So my romantic mind says that it's looking for a place to bury its mate, and where better than in the middle of a flower. A few frames further and you can see that the ant head is gone, and the ant toddles off to continue its day of ant-like work. Presumably after a nano-second of mourning.
