Plum jam

I made plum jam with my aunt and gran today. Whilst cutting open the plums, we found two with these brown bits inside. I googled it and it seems to be the remains of a plum moth larvae. They are left inside plums as eggs, before hatching and eating the plum's nutrients. Although it was very interesting to read about, it has made me think twice about eating the plums off the trees!

Whilst waiting for the jam to boil, I ran across the road and brought back one of the new kittens to show my gran. She is waiting for a hip replacement and is currently unable to walk further than around the house so had not seen them yet. She was even happier than I thought she would be and she sat down in her armchair and stroked it until it fell asleep. I'm so glad that I was able to do it - I know it meant a lot to her.

The jam turned out great too :)
