Carskey Beach
Beautiful day so I was glad when the Sunday grocery shop was over and all put away so that we could head out to enjoy the sun.
Did take long for us to decide to head south to Southend then along by Keil cemetry to Carskey beach.
Lovely walking along the beach in the sun and despite there being a few other visitors to the beach when we first arrived, by the time we had walked half way along the beach we had it all to ourselves.
Couldn't resist taking a shot of the sparkling water.
When we were walking back to the car we heard the drone of an aircraft engine. When we looked up to the sky we saw what looked liked a Lancaster bomber heading towards the Ayrshire coast then several minutes later we saw it flying back the way it came but this time with a either a Spitfire or a Hurricane escorting it.
Beachcomber later found out that there was an airshow at Coleraine featuring aeroplanes from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight which would explain us seeing this iconic aircraft :-)
My extra shows the view towards Dunaverty and in the distance you can see Ailsa Craig.
