Table Mountain
Yay! We are in South Africa!
The flight (although long) was ok, great service; we were both really impressed with KLM.
We collected the right car, and got to the hotel by 10pm. Neither of us managed to sleep on the plane, so it was a shower and straight to bed when we arrived.
The hotel is lovely, set in a dutch style village. We had the most amazing breakfast there this morning.
First activity of the day was Table Mountain; not a cloud in the sky so it was perfect. I was really pleased about this as Mr A has been to Cape Town 3 times before and has never managed to visit Table Mountain. He also told me he's never been in a cable car before either!
As it was such a nice day (and a Sunday), the queues were horrendous, but it didn't seem to take that long to get the tickets.
The ride up to the top was brilliant and the view was amazing; I was so glad we had such a clear day. We could see right down to the Cape of Good Hope and also across to Robben island.
By the time we'd had a wander and taken photos, it was time for afternoon tea, which we'd booked in advance at the Mount Nelson hotel. This was recommended to me by a patient at work and didn't disappoint.
The service was first class and unlike afternoon tea at home, they brought more savoury food if you wanted it and the cakes were all laid out on a table for you to help yourself.
Tea was also interesting and brewed to precision. I had Earl Grey with blue flowers and it tasted (and smelled) divine!
We both felt tired after all that food, before we went back to the hotel for a nap, we had a drive up Signal Hill where we had a great view of the mountains (today's blip).
Tonight, we are taking a cab to Mr A's favourite restaurant, Baia, where they serve his favourite fish, Kingclip. I'm looking forward to trying it too!
Wifi is intermittent so I will try and post when I can; comments will have to wait until I get home!
