Autumn Approaches

First of the colchicums are flowering now.  Many have been destroyed by the legion of slugs but I am waging war on them now!

This is Colchicum aggripinum, smaller than most but nicely chequered.  It's a great garden plant here, bulking up to make a nice clump, in fact it does so well that it needs digging and replanting every few years as the bulbs get too crowded otherwise.
