New bike!

Well, you remember that balance bike that I ordered yesterday afternoon?

It arrived THIS MORNING!!!!!!

We could hardly wait to get breakfast finished. All three boys helped build it!

Ben was super excited.

Anyways today has been a day of jobs and chores, housework and shopping. We took the new bike out this morning into town to go to the post office among other places, but by the time we'd been here there and everywhere Ben was tired. We got the bus home. But, Charley slept pretty much the whole time, just woke up on the bus, and Ben was delightful company and extremely well behaved!!

After lunch we had to go out to the supermarket but opted to go by car. Again Ben was really quite lovely company, and we even shared a hot chocolate and a cake in the cafe afterwards. Charley enjoyed some of that too.

And then the most surprising thing happened.

Ben fell asleep in the car on the way home, not Charley!! Steve went to get him out of the car. He said "I can climb out by myself!" and fell asleep again. Then Steve picked him up and Ben said, "I can walk to the house by myself!" and fell asleep again on Steve's shoulder. And didn't stir when he was laid out on the couch.

So after a looooong afternoon nap, briefly woken to see if he wanted dinner, which he said yes to and requested cheese sauce and pasta (what else?!) he fell asleep again. So we left him to it until dinner was ready.

Steve cooked the most GORGEOUS special fried rice with chicken and prawns for us. Charley and I snacked on grapes and breadsticks while we waited. And Ben did indeed wake up (eventually) for dinner, ate most of it, woke right up, and played with lego the rest of the evening! He and Steve even raced down to Tesco for milk on his new bike in the dark, wearing his school hi-vis jacket and a flashing armband.

Charley slept all evening.

I am tired. But at least the housework is done at last and I can sleep easy!

Blipfolio of the rest of the bike-building shots coming tomorrow - Boy is ready for bed :D
