Woke early in our "home stay" to walk a little way to a view of the first range of the true Himalayas. The 5 peaks of the the Panchachuli Range showed their shadow side to us, the sun picking out their crested ridges against a perfect blue sky which did not last for long.

Otherwise a day of organisation, napping and hair washing with little photographic sorties between. We met the team of the organisation, Himalayan Ark, who will be looking after us for the next fortnight, a wonderful grass roots organisation which has many local initiatives with women being the mainstays of the farming, conservation and home stay projects as many of their menfolk go down to the plains to work.

The usual downpour occurred at 6pm.
