Diary of an Edinburgher

Sunflowers!

More little improvements in the knee department - yay!

A friend came for lunch, and brought these gorgeous sunflowers. Archie was most impressed and got up on the arm of the sofa for a closer look. We had a fab lunch of sweetcorn and courgette fritters adapted from one of Annabelle Langbein's recipes. Annabelle is the NZ equivalent of Nigella and Delia rolled into one. (Claim to fame: we met her once, before she was really famous). We also had purple potato salad - the neighbours grow them in their allotment and hand them in to us regularly.

Elizabeth came to take Archie out for the day. It turned out to be even more exciting than normal - they came across the Dog Show at Braidburn Valley Park. We went to it last year and it was pandemonium because it was a beautiful day, so dozens of dogs (and owners) turned up unexpectedly and the organisers couldn't cope. Good fun!

Archie is flat out, exhausted after his long walk, and I have been picking out the little seed things from his fur while watching the tennis and doing my knee stretching. Multi tasking.

The suitcases are out, packing tomorrow... flying off to warmer climes (wouldn't be hard) on Monday. But Archie has a very exciting week planned, so he's looking forward to it.
