Not A Fair-weather Friend
It’s true:
on the fine days we plonk you
in a corner and forget about you.
Scant
regard is what we show you. We can’t
believe we ever needed you. You’re redundant.
But look! It’s raining
and suddenly we’re complaining
that we might get wet. A stormy morning
finds us wandering
from room to room wondering
where it was we put you. The thing
is, we do value
you. Of course we do.
And we’re appreciating you anew,
now that the heavens have opened.
Prepare yourself, old friend,
and do your duty. Or it will be the end
of you.
It’s true:
adieu, adieu…
I'm Brilliant
Adieu, Adieu
