Ticks are small arachnids in the order Ixodida

well, our cat Sardine had a tick just behind the ear, a difficult place for him to bite it out. So we took a fine tip tweezer and removed it for him. He kept silent when I held him and Fleur took the tick away.
One will never know if he know what we did, we do get this gaze after such an operation: 'it is like "thanks, but never do that again"

I know when I would have done this with our cat Molly that I owned when I was a child, that I would have been in hospital for surgical sutures.
