Maisie
We went to see our darling cousins in their new abode in deepest Herefordshire on Thursday and had a lovely lunch in the garden. They have recently adopted a Romanian rescue dog called Leyla (5 months) who was so sweet and gentle and who has settled in well. The Romanian dog rescue centre then rang my cousin again a couple of weeks later about another little dog - Maisie (6 months) - who had been returned to them after a week because the people she had gone to be rehomed with couldn't cope with her. They asked my cousin if she would take her in and of course she couldn't refuse - and this is her. She was sitting right at the bottom of the garden keeping us in view and was aware of our every move.
She is terribly scared of just about everything, has somehow lost half her tail and keeps her distance all the time. She luckily gets on very well with the other two dogs, and vice versa, and does come into the house to sleep overnight. It will be a long, long patient exercise to gain her trust but am sure my cousin will succeed. In fact I had an email from her the day after we were there to say that she had actually managed to stroke Maisie's head in the kitchen - so that's a huge step forward. Fingers and paws crossed!
