Not for Tourists

Passing through Charleston, SC today, I saw this house that looks like a Charleston house in style (notice the house sits perpendicular to the street, and what appears to be a front door actually opens to a porch).  Many such houses are beautifully preserved, but his one happens to be in a neighborhood with surroundings that are not on brochures or tourists' agendas.  By complete contrast, the extra photo shows a side entrance for The Casements, a Florida resort home owned previously by John D. Rockefeller Sr.  It has been an arts center for years.  When I was living in Ormond Beach, FL  in the late 1980's I was invited to participate as a reader for a  public poetry reading at the house.
