Llama at Old McDonald's Farm
Out all day with the walking group up the Marahau Valley. We started at the same point as the walkers who were walking the Abel Tasman National Park but headed west into the hills. It passes through a working farm which has turned part of the flat land into a camping ground in the summer. We saw chooks, llama, cattle, deer, apiarists setting out beehives, and passed over small streams and through bush. A gravel road all the way but not too bad and a couple of slight rises which gave us a view back to the sea. Some only made it to the hay barn but the rest made it to a private residence where we sat on their outside chairs. They were out pruning some very rough looking apple trees.Their little dogs kept up a cacophony of barking but settled down when the three legged cat passed through.
I talked with one woman about genealogy, another photography. Swapped notes about podiatrists and bird calls. No lack of conversation. We walked about 10km in total and rewarded ourselves with a coffee at Mrs Smiths on the way home.
I took the little SX50 as it is much lighter and was pleased I had.
A toss up which photo to blip so a couple of extras- all livestock. A Suffolk cattle beast and a herd of deer.
