The Last One
Not the last Pileated Woodpecker, I hope -- but this is the last photo I'll take of birds at our feeders with my Olympus 40-150 f4-5.6 lens.
My new lens arrived today, and I'm very pleased with it. More details in my next blip!
This is a female Pileated Woodpecker; males have a red stripe on their cheeks. She seems happy to supplement her regular diet of carpenter ants in trees, and other insects, wild fruits, and nuts, with the ease of dining on a block of suet replete with a variety of tasty seeds. I last photographed her on July 27, and earlier on July 23, but have yet to see a male at our feeder; I hope she'll find a mate and stick around!
